Some of my favourite quotes.

As a teenager I started collecting quotes that impacted on me, either they inspired me, or made me smile or just somehow resonated with something at my core.

pregnant_mother_holding_toddlerAs a mum I have rekindled my quote book and started filling it again. I have shared most of them on the Toys Naturally Facebook page or on Twitter, and I felt it timely to share some in a few blogs.

I am particularly fond of Winnie the Pooh quotes and I seem to have accrued a disproportionately large number of these.

I will share some of my favourites over the ensuing weeks all relevant to babies, toddlers and young children and of thus also to motherhood and parenthood.

A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on.
Carl Sandburg

When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousandlaugh_laugh pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. So there ought to be one fairy for every boy or girl.
James Matthew Brairie

A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.

Babies are such a nice way to start people.
Don Herrold

A baby is born with a need to be loved -- and never outgrows it.
Frank Clark

Even when freshly washed and relieved of all obvious confections, children tend to be sticky.
Fran Lebowitz

There are three reasons for breast-feeding: the milk is always at the right temperature; it comes in attractive containers; and the cat can't get it.
Irena Chalmers

The moment a child is born,
the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.
Rajneesh
