Suggested ways to extend play with stacking Rings

  •
  • 10576 rainbow stacking ringsStart simply by allowing the child to explore the toy and take the rings off the rod, and experiment with it's rocking base.
  • Play with the rings, exploring their shape and their smoothness and allowing little fingers to feel around the inner doughnut hole. Role them toward the child  along the floor for the child catch and stash.
  • Play eye spy through the middle of the rings.
  • Sort the rings, laying them flat, from small to big and big to small.
  • Stack the rings on the rod, finishing with the the ball on top. Name the colours of the rings and the ball as they are stacked. Talk about other objects with the same colours as each ring.
  • Alternatively stack the rings on the rod, and count them as they are stacked. Count the rings off the rod and then as each is placed on it to reinforcing numeracy and recognition of quantity.
  • Try Balancing the rings and the red ball without using the rod.
  • Consider reversing the stacking order.
  • Identify other circles and rings to reinforce recognition of the shape.
