A baby's sense of vision develops progressively from birth. At around 2 months of age a baby can focus on objects 8-12 inches away, and is more interested in colour and movement than at birth. Heimess baby toys including Gyms, are perfect for engaging and developing a baby's senses. As babies bat and kick, their muscles are strengthened and their focus develops. Babies quickly attempt to reach and try to grasp the hanging toys,  which further develops fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Additonally babies start to lift their heads which strengthens neck muscles.

Heimess products can be cleaned with warm water. As with all wooden toys, Heimess toys do wear with use, but this does not dimish their safety. Only native woods, nickel-free metal pieces, formaldehyde-free glue and child safe paints and dyes are used in the manufacture of Heimess products. Wood is mildly antiseptic and thus may diminsh the proliferation of bacteria in comparisson to other materials
